This is something that I think plagues every area of peoples lives, just not to the degree that we see it in the health and fitness industry. It just runs rampant and depending where on the internet you are, there are people that feed into this mentality.
They'll say stuff like "you'll build more muscle if you do this" or "you'll lose more fat if you do that". When in reality, the things that are done consistently and that are easier to adhere to are the things that are going to get you closer to the goals you are trying to reach.
One of the easiest ways to become frustrated and burn yourself out, is to have this mentality of "it's all or nothing". The good news is, I'm most cases, you really can have your cake and eat it too. You just have to be strategic about it.
